Snark: to annoy or irritate

"Snark" has been in English language dictionaries since at least 1906, and Lewis Carroll used the word to describe a mythological animal in his poem, The Hunting of the Snark (1874). Most recently, the word has come to characterize snappish, sarcastic, or mean-spirited comments or actions directed at those who annoy or irritate us.

At first, this blog was just going be a place to gripe, but because it's more satisfying to take action than it is to merely complain, now most of the posts/reposts suggest ways to get involved in solving problems.

Greedy Bastard$!

A message from PFAW: After years of learning about the details of an American decision-making system centered on exploitation and extraction, MSNBC hostDylan Ratigan lost his temper on-air. Instead of just being angry, Dylan wrote GREEDY BASTARDS: How We Can Stop Corporate Communists, Banksters, and Other Vampires from Sucking America Dry. In the book, Dylan, who is emerging as a leading voice and dedicated ally against out-of-control corporate influence in government, reveals the details of this broken system, and more importantly, what we can do today to fix it.

The book releases officially tomorrow, January 10, but is available for pre-order, right now, at a special reduced price for PFAW supportersOrder your copy now, and we’ll offer you the chance to win an additional copy of the book autographed by the author, Dylan Ratigan, for free.

Just forward your order confirmation email (or copy and paste your receipt page, including your online order number) tobookoffer@pfaw.org and you will be entered in a raffle to win one of five autographed copies.

On his show, Ratigan uses the acronym BOUGHT to focus viewers on Banks, Oil, Universities, Government, Health and Trade as the core areas of American policy and business that are being bought by Greedy Bastards. The book focuses on the same areas and more, identifies the problems with clarity and detail, and even more importantly, offers a path to real solutions.

GREEDY BASTARDS is a call to action. It provides the framework that exposes the need to get money out of politics, and a plan to restructure debt and investment to unleash growth. Unlike any other book, GREEDY BASTARDScreates an opportunity for Americans to enlist in a foundation to create the solutions. Ratigan launched the nonprofit, Get Money Out, with the singular objective to pass a 28th Constitutional amendment to separate business and state. “When we reform the money in politics, America will have the debate it deserves,” Ratigan asserts.

The official publication date is tomorrow, January 10, but we encourage you to pre-order the book online at Barnes & Noble orAmazon today.

And make sure to send your order confirmation to bookoffer@pfaw.org for a chance to win an additional autographed copy of GREEDY BASTARDS for free!
