Snark: to annoy or irritate

"Snark" has been in English language dictionaries since at least 1906, and Lewis Carroll used the word to describe a mythological animal in his poem, The Hunting of the Snark (1874). Most recently, the word has come to characterize snappish, sarcastic, or mean-spirited comments or actions directed at those who annoy or irritate us.

At first, this blog was just going be a place to gripe, but because it's more satisfying to take action than it is to merely complain, now most of the posts/reposts suggest ways to get involved in solving problems.

Palin on Discovery?

As seen on Discovery?

Discovery Communications is
home to earth-friendly offerings

like the Discovery Channel, the
Planet Earth series, the Science
Channel, and Animal Planet, and
soon, the media conglomerate will
also be home to "Sarah Palin's
Alaska."
Discovery is paying the former
half-term governor, who
advocates for habitat-destroying
oil drilling, denies global warming
is a human-caused threat, and
spearheaded a brutal wolf
slaughter program, to host a
nature program.
Join more than 200,000 other
CREDO Action members in
telling Discovery to cancel
Sarah Palin's show before it airs.
Sarah Palin belongs on Fox News,
where "drill here, drill now" is a
welcome message, not on
Discovery, a brand that used to be
known for its eco-consciousness.
But Discovery's COO, Peter
Ligouri, joined the media group in
December after a stint at Fox, and
he appears to have brought Sarah
Palin with him.
That's why it's so important to stop the
show that will give her the opportunity to
greenwash her record.
Thank you for speaking out.
Your pressure works!
