Snark: to annoy or irritate

"Snark" has been in English language dictionaries since at least 1906, and Lewis Carroll used the word to describe a mythological animal in his poem, The Hunting of the Snark (1874). Most recently, the word has come to characterize snappish, sarcastic, or mean-spirited comments or actions directed at those who annoy or irritate us.

At first, this blog was just going be a place to gripe, but because it's more satisfying to take action than it is to merely complain, now most of the posts/reposts suggest ways to get involved in solving problems.

Reject "Bombs Not Bread" Budget

Reject Republicans' heartless and extreme budget that takes away money from children and families
to give more to the Pentagon. Thanks to the activism of over 95,000 CREDO Action members there is new momentum in the fight against House Republicans' "Bombs Not Bread" budget.

Senator Patty Murray recently became the latest member of Democratic Leadership to join Senator Harry Reid in holding the line against House Republicans' efforts to undo mandated cuts to military spending, and to pay for it by cutting food stamps, school lunches and children's healthcare.1
Our campaign against Republicans' attempts to continue bloated military spending is not over. This week, four Republican Senators led by Senator John McCain are embarking on a roadtrip to scare voters about planned automatic cuts to military spending under last year's debt-ceiling deal.2 This Republican tour has more to do with protecting the corporate profits of defense contractors than with keeping our country safe.
While it is heartening to see the Democratic Leadership holding the line we need to keep up the pressure on senators to speak out against Congressional Republicans' relentless attempts to undo mandated military budget cuts. If you haven't done so yet, please tell Sens. Crapo and Risch to say no to House Republicans' heartless and extreme budget that blocks required military cuts and slashes funding for children, the working class and the poor. Thank you for fighting back against Republican extremists.
